Have just done a small service on my recently purchased td5 including oil, both filters upgraded air filter fuel filter upgraded discs and pads all round, all runs and starts well, very smooth drive until got on motor way and got above 75mph and got a slight judder, didnt like it it so didnt push it any harder, any ideas please guys when back at 70 ran fine. Thanks for reading.

Hi Harold 4x4 i drove the car home to croydon from Yorkshire when i bought it but didnt notice anything then, it dosnt feel like a wheel type judder more like a lack of fuel feeling i was thinking maybe something to do with my changing the fuel filter (air maybe), on the drive home cant really say weather i went over 70 or not.

What fuel filter did they fit? Genuine?

Replace it and see if you get the same results. If it fixes it great! If not you have a new filter ready for next time.

Could also try purging the system, pretty simple to do just look it up.

Had what OP has, changed fuel filter, didn't run correct then got original same thing, Turned out to be a injector pump was the problem

Injector pump?.... or in tank fuel pump?.... There isn't an injector pump on the TD5,

My in tank pump failed and I barely managed to limp home...new pump was required.

Gunk in the fuel tank can block the gauze at the base of the fuel pump... I eventually put an access hole in the rear floor to make pump maintenance/replacement easier.

old 6.2 gm diesel NA..

Did you drain and rinse out the tank

Don't do 75 in a TD5 defender other than briefly for overtaking, the noise will drive you insane after a while.
