Morning All,

I went to start the freelander this fine chilly morning and first off it started fine and was running as normal, but when i turned the heater on to de-mist the window the revs were fluctuating rapidly. Then out of the blue it stalled . Started up again and ran the heater fans slower and then after a few moments it cut out again. Tried once more and the poor little motor spluttered and cut out. I've given up trying to run it today as i don't want to break it more.

It has fuel and the battery is in pretty good condition.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Rich

sounds like loading of the engine.

firstly do you have Air con?
second do you have electric (ceramic) heater in the matrix

if you put the fan on full with full heat and up to the windscreen then the electric heater comes on (drawing a lot of electric) and also the drive for the air con engages (taking power direct off the engine)

check things like glow plugs if the problem goes away after the engine is warm

check the aircon pump is ok (try taking AC fuse out and see if the loading on engine is better)

check battery as electric heater draws a lot of power.

.

hope that helps

ed (who now has a c4:mad:)
