Hello everybody,

Just got round to doing the heater matrix O rings following STUFERs guide on here (very very helpful),
and when I put the new O rings over the pipes they were slack as hell,
basically just hanging there really, so I tightened them back up best I could, they looked like they were seated properly and everything looked hunky dory so started the car and ... drip drip drip,
so question is..

How tight a fit should the O rings be on the pipes before fitting them back to the matrix or is the matrix knackered ?

Thanks in advance, cheers.

Where they geniune land rover or some you matched up at the local o ring shop

I done mine a few weeks before xmas and when I fitted them on the pipes they made a tight seal and when refitting to matrix I smeared some engine gasket sealant on for good measure mind you they will never leak now nor will they be removalable

Cheers for reply,

No, the main dealer was not very helpful at all !
He was very forward at saying "we don't see p38's around here any more, I MIGHT be able to order you some "!
So I got them off the bay,
So now I have gone to the local fred dibnah type of guy who gave me some that matched the old ones in size,
I'll try these tomorrow with some gasket seal for extra protection and see what happens then.
cheers.

Sounds like you have a Stealer that is an arse, post your location theres probably a decent parts supplier locally that a member will point out. Theres no point in wasting gasket sealer or your time, by the sound of it, the numpty stealer has supplied you the wrong 'O' rings.

Obtain the correct parts and don't use the vehicle until your fitted it properly...

I fitted genny ones from land rover they are approx £4 for the pair and yes they dnt see p38's some are 15yrs old

If it was me I would go and ask again and if he is snotty as to speak to the manager he will change the tone I would alway use genny for a job like that you really dnt wanna do it over and over again
