put a new wiper motor on . so run it on fast & undone opened with no load to watch.2nd speed setting no problem .1st speed setting goes round to the switch strugles gets going again so on but resistance sets up in the earth return and its time to put it back on to no 2 to save a melt down .there doesunt seem to be any difference in the speed of rotation other than the dip in the switch point & they dont park . but ime not bothered about parkig position its a good game ! but me heads a little bent on whats goin on ! i have had alittle read but theres loads of different sinarios !

Luxury having two speeds! Mines off and on, although my single speed wipers dont self park either and never have done as far as I can make out

I have VW99 relay for intermittent wipe function allows you to set the time between 7 sec and 30 sec from memory.

I've taken the view that the £10 intermittent wipe saves more than that in wiper and wiper motor wear as mine is usually on intermittent unless its bucketing down.

If it melts the cable you have the park switch connected wrong. Pull all the wires off and start again. The main switch is wrong too. The park switc h earths the amarture to stop it, if you have it wrong this earths the supply (sounds like that's what you have). The main switch has two positions - run all the time and run via the stop switch, it has no off. The park switch is wired with the armature on common (from "run to park"), run to live and stop to earth. Wire it exaclty like the pic and it will work.
