Hi Folks, I have a 300tdi. Its really doing my head in just silly things but I cant seem to solve them. My side repeaters do not work although all the other indicators work perfectly, The stalk cancels etc and the hazards work but no side repeaters. Also the trailer light is constantley lit on my dash, I was hoping the two things would be related. Any help much appreciated.

Mine do work. But if they didn't I'd start by checking the bulbs first if you haven't already, I know it seems too simple but it is easy to overcomplicate things, then make sure the repeaters have power going to them if the bulbs are ok.

I am having the same problem too, any developments? I know its an oldish thread, my left indicator ok, right causes trailer warning light to come on dim as well as indicator light on dashboard. I initially lost indicators but this was due to whatever the fault is burning out hazard warning light switch. Cant seem to find what is causing short or alternate current path???

...dim lights that shouldn't be on sounds suspiciously like a bad earth.....does it have a trailer socket?

Also check there is no water in lens......

yes it has a trailer socket, two sockets, one connected with scotch connectors. i will defo remove it to isolate from circuit. I twiddled with cables in rear right pod and the old man twiddled with front right indicator and it has gone alright!!!

Looks like the fault is either the front indicator lens area, rear wiring pod, trailer socket.

This however instills no confidence as i dont know where the fault was/is so will do as suggested and post back.

UPDATE: Fault appears to have been in front lens area. Someone had wired up the lens unit with spade connectors but switched wires around so every time the earth screw was put in it created a dead short when indicators were put on!

remake your towing socket by soldering the wires instead of scotchlocks. they are a **** bodge and will cause you a world of problems every time you get a fault in the electrics. especially with your towing light coming on as well;)

Soldering is one way to do it right, I prefer crimp connectors protected by shrink sleeving, both are "proper" solutions rather than a bodge job.

Nothin could be worse than how mine has been done. As said, bodging of this type does cause a world of probs. Will rip it all out and start from scratch with soldered brass bullets connected in the rear tubs.

Just to throw another spanner in, towbar wiring is going to be included in the MOT soon, not so much the wiring but whether it works properly and im assuming that will include indicator warning anorl

Great! rewired a new tow socket in and everything works except hazards?? they work on the car but other lights are lighting up on board???? Any ideas if its the board or a fault elsewhere?
