Shutz Gun - Underseal

I just got hold of a shutz gun and compressor to do the underside of the Disco.

Can anybody tell me how many 1ltr cans I would expect to buy in order to do a decent job including injecting the chassis rails? also what's better... Shutz or waxoil?

Just done mine in the last week - borrowed a compressor , bought shutz gun & 1 litre can of shutz from machine mart - used the shutz to do the wheel arches & then bought 5 litre can of waxoyl from halfords to refill the litre can (rinsed with white spirits first) - have given all the underside a real good coating and have got about 1 litre of waxoyl left .

haven't injected the cavities yet 'cos mate wanted his compressor back - plan to do next month with clear waxoyl.

so a 5 litre can of waxoyl is plenty - make sure you stick it in a bucket of BOILING water for about an hour before.

Waxoyl is best for underneath 'cos shutz or underseal doesn't have any rust inhibiting properties. - I only bought the schutz to get a 1 litre can to fit the gun 'cos i couldn't get a waxoyl can that would fit.

after you've cleaned underneath & before you spray with waxoyl spray any rusty areas with 'Hammerite No. 1 Rustbeater' .

If you can stick it up on some ramps - makes it much easier & you don't get covered in the stuff.
