I'm in a bit of a pickle, I've just finally got my Classic back on the road, and fuel prices are making it a bit difficult to run as it's not the most fuel efficient mode of transport on the planet. The problem is, I really don't want to get rid of it, but at present don't have the funds to fit a multi-point LPG system to it. I think it'd need a multipoint set up because of the turbo, and I wouldn't want to fit a tank into the boot.

It's a 1987 3.5 V8 Classic which had a fortune spent on modifications when it was new. Wood and Pickett of London fitted it with a one-piece all aluminium tailgate, W&P Momo woodrim steering wheel, a special dashboard, upgraded wood, extra gauges, special wheel arch extensions, a strange fibreglass roof cover, a rear mounted spare wheel and a few other bits and bobs.

It then went to Janspeed for a single intercooled turbo to be fitted and suspension modifications. It's fitted with an on board compressor and Monroe something or other rear shocks. The self-levelling unit was removed when these were fitted. It's also had anti-roll bars fitted to it. The engine went back to Janspeed at 80k miles for a full engine rebuild and re-blueprinting, very expensive Omega forged pistons were fitted during this rebuild.

It has had the full leather seats from a Vogue SE fitted, these are in excellent condition.

It needs a bit of TLC, but nothing major. Runs badly when its cold but I'm going to have a look at that tomorrow. I fitted a very good auto gearbox to it a month or so ago so that's fine. It needs a few plates on the inner wings (but nowhere else) a small exhaust blow (it has a custom made stainless system from the engine to the middle box. Middle and back boxes are standard diesel spec ones). The bonnet needs painting as the lacquer has flaked when it's been parked for a few months.

It's MOT'd until the end of April, and taxed until the end of September.

I'd do a trade for a tidy, gas powered Classic SE and £1000 cash. Anyone interested? Or should I keep it? Might even swap it for a diesel one...

Tough choice.
Looks like a good Classic from the description and pcture, maybe better the devil you know. I do understand about the ecomomy though.
I have been looking for an LPG but not much around here any good and don't fancy one with the barrel in the boot.

Good luck

Bit of a pickle indeed !!
Shame that the robbers in the big house in london have been constantly hitting the motorist for years and years without much being done about it, they are hell bent on making sure only the rich have cars as special as yours.
I have a Classic but i can only afford to put fuel in it about once a month to go for a bit of fun in it or go walking and i dont want my Wee car to get covered in mud.Could you not have a small car thats good on fuel , tax etc and hang onto it? It's far too nice a beast to let go.

Is it the LSE model? Looks like it.:)

It's not an LSE, it's an '87.

I've taken the side steps off it now. They were knackered and I don't like steps on a Range Rover anyway.

I just don't know what to do with it. I've considered buying a little cheap econobox to use day-to-day, but I've tried this in the past. When I get to the path I see the Range Rover and use that instead..
