'Short' oil filter - bad for engine?

Anyone with a Td5 will know the spin on oil filter is a little hard to get at (although admittedly it becomes easier with practice). I see that some parts places are selling service kits with 'short' filters, apparently making them easier to get on and off. Does having a filter with a smaller capacity do any harm?

They arnt difficult to remove, just requires the right technique.

Use the correct filter from a quality brand.

Smaller filter, needs changing more regularly. I change my oil and both filters every 6k.

When I say "hope not" I don't really know the difference between long and short. I order Mahle using the part number, maybe it isn't a short one?

I suppose that would make sense that a short filter would require changing more frequently. I replace oil, both oil filters and fuel filter every 6000km (3700 miles).

And agreed that the spin on filter isn't hard to get off, but I do find it difficult to get back on sometimes.

I was just doing a price comparison for service items between the half dozen or so places I'm most familiar with and that I know will ship overseas. I also order by part number (so LPX100590 for a spin on filter), but I noticed a couple of places offered me a short filter option. I didn't look to see whether that had a different part number.

Seems Britpart offer the short one so no I don't use a short one.

Mahle do a short one too as I just bought one a couple of weeks ago
