Hi all

My Disco snapped it's cambelt yesterday, and I've just come in from 8 hours under the bonnet! I've got everything stripped down, and it looks like i'm lucky to have gotten away with just some push rods damaged. My Disco is a 200TDi. So, shopping list as follows:-

Push Rods - I can't find Disco one's on Paddocks, will these be the same?
546799 Push rod - 200TDI

Idler Pulley - the one directly above the crankshaft, is this it??
ETC8560 Timing belt pulley idler - 200TDI

Cambelt - there is a cheapo one and a genuine one. Presume the cheapo one is a false economy?

Rocket Cover Gasket

Timing cover gasket

Can anyone think of anything I've missed?

Cheers

Paddocks ref: 546799= push rod; ERR2530= timing belt tensioner; no ref for water pump gasket so speak to Paddocks
I would replace the tensioner.
I cannot see anything else you may need. The belt tension needs to be set with a beam type torque wrench but you can improvise.
Why not clean the intercooler as well.

A lot of snapped belts recently.....
Check the valve stems arent bent. Mine were and werent sealing. I also had a tappet adjuster break 2 weeks after a snapped belt was replaced which caused the head to lift and leak , so if I were you I would change them too, and if its highish mileage, I would change the valve stem oil seals. I also had a couple of slightly bent rocker arms on mine, and while it was all stripped down, I changed the springs as well. The garage that changed my belt didnt lift the head so didnt find all this additional damage. Mine was only ticking over whilst stationary when the belt went!

Bit of extra cost and time, but extra peace of mind too!
