hello everyone Im brand new on here, and not long had my first P38 1995 Jap Import Range.
As far as Iv been told she's in fantastic shape, but needs some small things to be all she can be!
The ride is very soft and looking around the web, Iv seen a lot of people talking about uprating the shocks, Koni seem to be the way to go, but which ones? the specials seem to me, to be what i need?
And Iv also been offered Terrafirmas at half the price so does the extra money make that much difference? all posts and advise greatly accepted.

Paul.

arnott air springs worth fitting if you are considering better handling

I've got Arnott Gen 3's airbags on the front with Original replacement bags on the back with Konis all round.

The Konis were a revelation when I fitted them a month ago, much better handling with way more control and steering shimmy almost eliminated, not much difference in ride, stifffer on the bumps but waaaayy better rebound control so overall improvement in comfort. I can heartily recommend them.

I've only just fitted the new front GEN 3 airbags this weekend and haven't had a decent spin to work yet so I'll reserve judgement, initial impressions are less dive under braking but that could be my wallet telling my head that :)

Right i knew it had shocks, and i knew it had air bags, and Iv heard of people having spring conversions, whats an Arnott Air Spring?
My EAS is in full working order, maybe 1 very slow leak but when the shocks get done Ill change that out at the same time.

Check out rover-renovations.com , they're the P38 air suspension gurus.

The Arnott Gen 3 (or III) air bag/spring is an air suspension upgrade for your P38. Its supposed to have a rising rate piston (instead of the allegedly falling rate OE one) so that when your car is at motorway setting it has a stiffer ride/less roll than at normal ride height which apparently is the opposite of what happens with the original airbags you probably have fitted. They also alllow extended articulation if you're into off-roading.

I really only went for them now since I needed new front bags anyway and the current exchange rate from Euro to the dollar is very good. They're over double the price of the standard airsprings (bags). I spend most of my time at standard height but I would appreciate less roll in the corners and dive under braking which they should give me without compromising ride comfort at that height. Oh, there's a lifetime guarantee with them for what its worth.

I used Arnott Gen 2 when I replaced my airbags last month solely on the basis of the lifetime warranty. I paid £269 for the 4 from P38 Spares on Ebay:D:D. Not a lot more than I was quoted for OEM. Unless you are a serious off roader and need the extra articulation that I think Gen 3's give, I do not think they are worth the extra money.

If your airbags are more than 8 years old, in my opinion its worth changing the lot for peace of mind, might save you a trip home on the bump stops and a burnt out compressor motor:(
If I could work out how to post pictures on here I'd put on the pictures I took while changing mine. If you want pictures PM me and I can email them to you.:)
