Aye Up, Morning All,

As the quest to upgrade my D1 continues I am looking into suspension components.

The plan is a 2 inch lift on TF015 springs (already acquired) plus associated elements.

There is much to do and budget constraints, so OME are out at the moment.

I’ve done ‘due diligence’ with various retailers and find myself steered in the direction of Bearmach +2 pin to pin £35 (with appropriate mounts). Part No. BR0645BMNG2
Information is that these have better valving components than a price equivalent Procomp shock.
Returns on them have been very small by comparison to sales.

Does anyone on the site have experience with these?

Thanks

I'm not saying that but... go cheap, buy twice. That Bearmach looks aight for the price but honestly I haven't heard any people rave about how great they are. Go and search for reviews on it.

I preferred Terrafirma on my old D1 and now on my D2. Others prefer OME or Billstein or Fox.

Aye Up Juke,

Yeah I’m long familiar with the buy cheap/buy twice maxim and IME it is most often the case.

In recent years however, globalisation and the way in which commerce now works (i.e. most manufacture is done in the Far East) means that the maxim is becoming less and less applicable. I have come across several instances where products are made in the same factory to the same spec but as soon as an ‘up market’ name is put on them the price hike is outrageous. (Take vehicle batteries for instance).
Perhaps there should be a trade law making it obligatory to identify the exact provenance of goods?

I’m also aware that some manufacturers will purposely heavily discount a usually expensive item in order to break into the market - ‘a loss leader’.

Notably a learn-ed mech told me that if he took a pair of budget shocks and repainted and repackaged one set with an upmarket name and hiked their price, despite identifying that both sets were the same spec and quality to purchasers most people would opt for the bling set. Lolol.

I’ve done as much research as I can on line and by speaking to various retailers so I thought I’d throw the question open in relation to a shock brand/type which I had narrowed down as having good potential, to potential end users on this site.
