Bought a new driver’s seal belt to deal with a MoT advisory, OEM branded “Amsafe”, supplies by Britpart. Fitted it fine, within a couple of miles it started to lock at the slightest movement, often preventing me from looking out and junctions, putting on the handbrake etc. Eventually it just locked me to my seat completely and would no longer pullout.
Took the fookin thing back and they replaced it with another... guess what, doing the same, that’ll be going back tomorrow!
Anyone else had an issue with Britpart/Amsafe seatbelts? Don’t want the shop thinking it’s just me being a ‘tard!

Had this problem with another vehicle. The mechanism needs to be set at just the right angle otherwise you get problems like you're having.

Mine was for a Ford, not Land Rover, but the inner workings of the reel will be similar. I seem to remember there was some alignment marks on it and some rotating adjustment. If it was put on at the wrong angle the effect was it though it was going up or down a steep hill, even when on the flat, and it locked up.

Cheers, I’ll have a look tomorrow.

Agreed, it is all in the angle of the reel.

I thought BP seatbelts were made by Securon, obviously not (or maybe they have changed manufacturer)?
Fitted a Securon belt to the O/S of my 90 several years ago, fitted fine and no problems since (sure it was supplied as a BP item at the time). A couple of months ago I replaced the N/S one with the same item, once again no problems.

Bpart drivers belt been in mine a few years now, works okay, but does seem to lock at the slighest provocation, which is bloody annoying at jcts ect, I have gotten used to it, to be fair my D3 does the same.
Mayeb I need to lose some weight!

I’ve improved mine by adding a bush between the tensioner and the seat box, and using a longer bolt, thus making the mechanism sit more plumb. It’s almost cured completely, but still got the occasional lock-up on my 45min drive this morning.
