Setting up an independent LR workshop in Middle East

Hi All,

Last time I was here was about 12 months ago, I managed to cook my engine which subsequently required a full engine rebuild. I'll add some pics to my profile if you're interested!

From my experience, there are not many independent LR repair centres in the UAE, I came across one. It got me thinking that there is a gap in the market and it needs filling.

I'm really interested in talking to someone who knows what it would take to open a small Land Rover repair centre. Not so much of the local requirements (which I am aware of) but the equipment ie tools, diagnostics, mechanics, parts & logistics etc.

I do have a little experience in the motor trade but would love to talk to someone who knows a lot more than I do and could help me out.

ANY information would be useful, even if its just one area - please fire away on all cylinders!

One of the most valuable bits of kit i have is my autologic diagnostic kit , as an independent you can't be without it, & the phone support is 2nd to none, as far as landrovers go your usual run of the mill tools will do 95% of the work with the odd few special tools just to make the job easier !

Ramps will need to be of 4 ton capacity, i imagine there are a good few range rovers in the UAE and these are now over 3 tons.

Thanks for you reply, yes there are a fair few Range Rovers here, almost all of them are petrol.

Does the autologic diagnostic ket reset the service lights for all the LR models or would that require another bit of kit. I was looking online earlier and the was something called Omnitec T4? how does that compare with the Autologic if you dont mind me asking?

I will most definitely PM you one I collect a bit more info.

Hi Deep,

Yes autologic does reset service lights, T4 system is what is used in Landrover main dealer workshops, there are 2/3 different versions of the T4 system, the advantage of the autologic system over the T4 system is the ability to offer basic downloadable performance upgrades for most of the landrover range, and also the phone line technical support which i don't think is available with the T4 .

All the autologic updates etc are done via the internet, I imagine this would be a bonus for you in the UAE?
