It would seem they don't mean a lot. "Full service history Sir so it must be good" famous salesmans banter. Well decided to throw a couple of front air bags on, changed the back ones a while ago. So as the front brakes were squeaking a bit and the discs looked tired. Thought to me little self that as changing bags is a little easier with wheel off, would treat her to a new set of discs and pads. Nice steady job an hour a side or so. Old pads were about 1/4 worn and nicely rounded off on the edges were they had obviously been fitted to knackered discs. Discs are new 1" thick mine were 0.80" NS 0.76" OS so pretty screwed. To be honest they were not too bad on outside but on inside they were badly worn. I have done 4000 miles since i bought it. The last service was done just before that, so theoretically does not need another for 2000 miles. So this mechanic has fitted new pads to worn discs and to make matters worse does not know the difference between leading and trailing edges. As one pad on each side was the wrong way round. One OS pad on NS, and one NS pad on OS. Then he stamped the service book up. The mind boggles.
