Hi all

Quick question: I was about to fit a new serpentine belt on my 98 P38 (2.5 BMW diesel) I noticed that the bolt holding the tensioner wheel onto the tensioner was almost out, so I tightened it up then found out that threads had stripped. I have not checked if the bolt has stripped, or could the tensioner wheel be threaded, or maybe the lever it'self. Can't afford a full tensioner assembly just now, but am wondering if I could get away with using a longer nut & bolt

Cheers, hope this makes sense

Cheers James. My problem is that I can't see it properly. So far as I can see, the pulley wheel sits behind the tensioner lever arm with the bolt going from the front of the lever arm then through the pulley. I would imagine maybe there is a captive nut at the rear of the pulley wheel. Could be wrong of course. Will need to take it off to make sure I guess.
