Series three light woes

I have fitted a new stalk and switch for my '82 series three. I only have all the lights when the switch is switched to sidelights. As soon as the switch is moved to dip the main lights go out apart from sidelights. No dip, main beam or flash on this setting. Any ideas anybody? Stumped!

You've wired up the side/headlight switch wrong? Sounds like you've got the rear light and headlight connections reversed. Do you have a wiring diagram? The manual will give you a clue as to which terminals on the back of the switch are which.

If they are reversed. Would the rear lights still work normally? I have got a wiring diagram somewhere. When I replaced the switches I labelled and returned the wires to the same places. I bloody hate lectrix!

pdf Land Rover Manuals | Landroverweb.com has both the wiring diagram and a drawing of which wire goes to which terminal on the back of the switch.

Yes rear lights will work if dip/ headlight terminations are reversed. will have a look at mine tomorrow if for colour code etc if your still having probs.

Cheers WITCHBRO. Managed to sort it and got the landy through the dreaded MOT yesterday!
