Series one carburettor

The series one I look after has a Weber 34 ICH on it. She’s had a lot of bother with water in the fuel and the carb has got quite powdery inside. I’ve cleaned it all out a few times but still won’t run well. Will idle happily enough but won’t rev without bogging down. The owner has said to get a new carb, but when I look online, the 34ich is recommended for the 2.2 engine. Would one run on the 2.0 ok or not?

Not sure, but assume it used to run ok?
Put some decent super/E5 petrol in it and see how you get on

The jets are all green and corroded. I’ve cleaned them a few times now but the whole inside is all water damaged. Don’t get super here. Normal E5 only

When it comes to carbs on older engines, bigger is usually better. Id go for the 2.2 one unless the price is exorbetant.

E5 is super E10 is the normal stuff!
The standard unleaded attracts more water since the additional ethanol added

It’s not me paying
They are around £150 so not too bad

Up to a point. Big enough and there won't be sufficient downdraught to work as intended

Sort of but when all petrol went to E10 they gave us an exemption as the fuel depot and filling stations only have one petrol and diesel pump each so our petrol is all 95 Ron
