Series military ambulance

Been a while since I've been on here I've recently sold my disco and I'm looking for as the title of this thread suggests a series ambulance!
I've done a search for local ex military vehicle suppliers but with no luck so I thought maybe you guys and gals could help, Im based in somerset but willing to travel reasonable distance, my budget is up to £2,000 is this realistic for what I want?? I don't mind a bit of work as I can weld and my old man is a mechanic! I've had a series 2a 88 so I'm under no illusion of what to expect!! I know this is long winded but basically do you guys know of anywhere local to me who supply this sort of vehicle??

I`d be surprised if any ex MOD vehicle disposal contractors (Witham, Leavesleys etc) still have any so my guess is you will be better off on Milweb (great website for ex military vehicles) or joining the EMLRA and posting a wanted ad there if there are none in classifieds.

Thanks for that I'll give them a try! Keeping an eye out on eBay but no luck yet.

Try the miltary shows as well - War and Peace etc - bit of a trek but you might get some good advice even if no-one has one for sale. They are all usually advertised on Milweb.
Do some research first, I think most of the 11A and 111 ambulances were bodied by Marshalls of Cambridge, and there should be some reasonable books and articles around. If you`ve never been up close to one then some of the Museums might be a good start - Bovingdon is probably closest to you, not sure if they have one, similarly Duxford - worth ringing to find out.
I have to say that your budget is probably only likely to get you one needing a lot of work, their relative rarity means they should command a premium, particularly if they have most or all of the original kit in the back. Best of luck with it

Sounds like I could be in for a bit of a search then!! I'll do some more research, I'm in no rush I'll bide my time and keep my eyes open for the right vehicle! Shame u just missed yours!!

I'm thinking of selling my s2a 69 RAF ambulance
It's got a 19j 2.5tdi but no gearbox
Been totally rewired new brakes all around (1 wheel cyl leaking though)
Got a striped down v8 and a spare bulk head that will go with it
The inside is striped out ready for conversion into a camper
Underside is in mint condition and went through it's last mot no trouble
I'm looking for 1k Ono
Obviously it don't drive due to gearbox
