ok im about to restore a 1977 series III petrol for my son, who wants to help. he a land rover nut just like me.
right the chassis is fubarred, but weldable, so thats the first big thing.
right then. cant afford a new bulkhead, so will be repairing mine.
question, side legs, and foot wells all need doing, but the question is, this old girl had a welded on roll cage which has been cut off a bit heavy handed.
i have holes in the bulk head just below the windscreen hangers.
so a repair plate is going to be needed.
now do i cut enough out so the plate is welded in flush, or does it normally get welded on top?
id like to keep her looking nice, so would assume that cutting so the plate is flush welded would be the thing to do, but would like some advise first please.
thanks in advance.
regards
