Good afternoon everyone i’ve just recently purchased a 88 inch Series III, this is my third Land Rover unfortunately the other two were 90 V8. I know I’m probably going to get dragged over the coals for this but I can’t get on with the engine do you know anybody in the Dorset area that you could recommend to do a V8 conversion? Also the 2.25 petrol has only done 14,000 miles from new and had an overhaul last year, any idea what I can get for the engine?
Thanks for reading

Welcome:).

That is really nice:).

To be honest sell it and buy a V8, that looks too original to mess with:).
Getting somebody else to do it would cost a lot of beer tokens:D

Seems odd that an engine needed an overhaul at 14,000 miles. Maybe it had been round the clock?

That said, is wasn’t many years ago you couldn’t give the 2 1/4’s away. You’d see then not selling on eBay for £25.

But times have changed. I’d be tempted to pull the engine and stick it in a corner. That way you could put it back to stock if you wanted too.

As for the V8 conversion. It is a pretty easy conversion. Anyone reasonable mechanic should be able to do it. Or give it a go yourself.

Personally I think it’s a good way to go. A 3.9 on twin carbs or EFI would make for a very nice vehicle.

Hi and welcome!

What a stunning Landy! I’d say it’s too nice to convert to V8, it’s much more desirable and will hold its value better in its current condition. But it’s your Landy so do what suits you to enjoy it.
