Hi all, I have an old grill badge that I was given when working on a farm in the mid 80s, the farmer took this off his Land Rover which had just been scrapped, he said was a 107" pick up. I was wondering if any one out there can confirm this or offer any ideas on it.
It's unusual due to only having Land Rover and no Solihull, Warwickshire, England.

I have a 1957 Series 1 pick-up with a 109" wheel base and fully floating rear axel. The badge is a larger black oval like the series 2

So do we get pics of this 109 in your thread?
and what’s your interpretation of fully floating?

J
my interpretation...
Fully floating axel has the Rear half shafts that can now be removed and are taking no weight. Any problems and the half shafts
can be taken out, leaving the wheel bearings and hub behind.
semi floating rear axels of the earlier series ones, had bearings pressed on the halfshaft which carried the vehicle weight.

Clever wording then.

Still don’t see your landy, or are you just here to disagree?

It is likely that badge came from an early series one [ lights behind grill ] 80. Of course someone could have fitted it to a 107 just because they liked it. [ I have a series badge on my Ninety] By time the 107 arrived the larger black/silver was standard.
A story go's that a group of prospectors for copper were hacking their way through the undergrowth in Indonesia in the 70/80s and were just saying to one another " We are the first people ever to see this place" When one of them spotted something on the ground. A series one grill badge. :)

I drove an early series 1 once, didn't like it much, very rudimentary.
Drove a nice 107 and it was a pleasure to drive.

A farmer just down the road from me had a 107 pick up with "delux" cab, with roof lining, door cards, heater/demister and wipers on both windows. My 63 2a had none of those.
