Hi Guys (and Gals),

This may be a bit basic, but please bear with me as I am totally new to the Land Rover world....

I have bought a 1975 Sries 3 which I am rebuilding on a new galv chassis and bulkhead. I would like to add a winch, but don't seem to be able to find any winch bumpers to suit? It seems to me that the winch would just as easily fit on some sort of mounting plate across the front chassis between the wings (in front of the radiator grille) and may not even need a winch bumper at all???

Any advice would be very much appreciated, especially where I might be able to get such a mounting plate pre-made as I have very little mechanical knowledge and no welding skills (not yet anyway - but I will get there)

Thanks

I just bolted an 8mm plate between bumper and crossmember. You can get fitting kits for series landies, this one looks pretty reasonable www.dborc.co.uk/goodwinch/4x4 brb.htm

Just get a plate from local shop / scrap and bolt it onto the bumper and chassis.
Has the benefit if you over stress it all you need to do is replace the plate. Total cost for mine was about £7.

See SIII here

Thanks for the replies gents - I think the BRB option looks good at the moment, but I now have some options to work with

Much Apreciated
