not sure but probably,Leyland south africa got these mills to install instead of the v8 this was SA fore runner to the stage 1,as i understand it this mill was developed for the p5 car.the landy a santana box and salsbury diffs and galf chassie and was the last series to be manufacturred in South Africa

ah yeah had a better look now....... its a 6cyl rather than a 4 is it a 2300cc or a 2500cc?

Hey, I own one of these. Mine is ex SADF-put together by Leyland SA in 1980. It still has the original straight 6 Rover (2.6) engine. Notorious for overheating and cracking, warping, blowing gaskets etc. I have somehow managed to keep it fully original-no easy task....wouldn't have it any other way though! Anybody else own an ex military one? Anybody have any pics of ex military ones? I'll take some pics soon and post them here.

It's the BL E series engine in 2.6 litre guise.

Same family of engines as used in Allegro/Maxi 1500 & 1750cc (4 cyl), Princess 2200 6 cyl and finally the 2.6 which I don't think found a home under any UK bonnets unless perhaps the Rover SD1?

Remember an old boss of mine having a Wolseley Special Six (Princess wedge type) with the 2.2 engine, picked it up new from the garage, drove 16 miles and the camshaft broke! I got the call to go an get his old Dolomite back from the garage he'd traded it into.

He'd had the Wolseley back 3 weeks when it had an under bonnet fire.....not a happy experience
