Hi all, looking for some advice on leaf springs. My series 3 Swb truck cab came with parabolic springs on the front and leaf on the rear. It doesn’t drive as ‘smooth’ as my previous series. More like a seesaw. The question is “should I put a set of parabolic springs on the rear or go for leaf all around”. I changed the shocks but didn’t make much difference. When towing with a bit of weight on the back it is actually better. Thanks

As above, same type all around. My preferred SWB set up for general use. Standard front leaf with LWB shocks [ Armstrong ] For the rear Air portable
[lightweight ] leaf and standard shock.

Thank you. I think I’ll go for standard leaf all around. They will probably be better if towing a trailer at any point.

Thanks. I’ve got Std Armstrong’s all around. Did you notice a better ride with LWB shocks on front. I know it’s not going to be smooth, just benchmarking from a previous series 3 which I think drove great. One had pro gas shocks but it I think the issue with the current one is the mix of parabolic and leaf. It like a bucking bronco.

I did a lot of off road in my 2a and found LWB shocks prevented the front from crashing on to the bump stops. On the rear at that time I had transit mk1 shocks for more movement. [ there was not the choice of aftermarket stuff like there is today.] For heavy loads I had booster coils which fitted on the axle with just one U bolt per side. A trailer should not put a heavy downward load on the hitch, If this is the case it is wrongly loaded.
Try GB springs, reputed to do good stuff.
