1982, 2.25 petrol 109, 78,000. Just fitted unleaded head, had probs with overheating - but thanks to Slob et al advice, a jolly good back flushing sorted that problem. Low power. Ticks over nicely, but stalling at lights. Engine `hunting` a tad. New fuel pump and serviced the carb. Air screw seems to do nowt. Have advanced and retarded ignition, little effect. It was running nicely (70 mph) prior to new head - but that was leaded. Points and plugs are newish. Am tempted to buy a Webber, Any thoughts please? (drive it off a cliff, throw hammers at it, throw more money at it???)

Gotcha. How the fug dew get acces to the freeking petrol pump nuts? I 1ve got the old A.C. type with the glass bowl. I`ve had the oil filter off. I can just about get at 13 mm scoket in there at an angle. Cant`get it much tighter as it`s starting to slip and round off the nut. Its leaking oil all over me nice power jetted enjin. Little scope witha 13mm ratchet spanner either.

cos yer sed yer just swapped heads and yer mixture screw dint do nowt. so a leak at yer manifold/head or manifold/carbatooter caused when yer dun yer head would have this effect

How sure is he that his valve clearances are still in spec?

Then it's time to take the top off carbytootery and shovel out all the crap, and clean the jets.
