Hello again all,
I have anothe problem I hope you can help me with.I have a leaking fuel leak, diesel .

I have been looking at a replacement one and they seem to have 3 bolts to fix one end and one the other.

My tank has 3 bolts each end? and I am confused which tank I need to buy.
I have a S3 small wheelbase with fills by the drivers door. 1973.

Any suggestions of best supplier would be welcome as i have read some posts about tanks not fitting.
thank you all

I bought mine from Craddocks and it fits fine. As for bolt holes, I'd have thought 4 bolts is enough to hold a tank in place, otherwise drill another couple, if there's room on the bracket.

I have been looking around and got confused with the description "underseat" but BEARMACH tell me they do one with 6 bolts at a price of £160.00.Here is a link to it. I did not think mine was underseat, but will get under and have another look.

Are they a good supplier please?

I have written to John Craddock as they are half the price and looks same.

The bracket I would need to drill is probably 5 to 6mm thick so am trying to avoid if possible.
thank you

I do not know if mine was ex military, thank you for lookingThank you on mine it fills up on the outside, from underneath about half is under the drivers door. Some suppliers tried to sell me a tank with just 3 fixings and the tank looked wrong.Bearmach were the best with good answers and 6 bolts but more money at £160,I do not mind if its good and right.

I have never heard of that company, do others know them please?

So yours fills from under the seat? Like so?

Through the cap there and not a pipe?

What is the mounting like? You said yours has three bolts on each end, is it possible that one could be attached with 3 and 1? Mine is 3 front 1 back. Google isn’t kicking up any 3 front 3 back tank results.

The part number for the one I bought is STC613. I got it from island 4x4 as it was the same thing but cheaper than many suppliers

Bearmach is slightly cheaper but the britpart has a 2 year warranty. Does that look right?

Could we get pics of your current one?

Thank you mine is not like that it looks like the BEARMACH one with 3 identical bolts both ends viewed side on, when i say front i mean towards the engine the others are towards the back of the car on same side as drivers doors you have bolts right and left when facing the car. I attach pictures of the fixings for the 6 bolts. one is towards front other towards rear....you can see the diesel dribbling!

The tank has been repaired once and looks very poor, the fixing bolts it goes on to are part of the new chassis which is from Richards and look solid.
I may take it to a garage and ask them to do it.At least get a quote ,perhaps they have seen it before. Its just 6 bolts to undo which are very clean and shinny.

The standard fitting for series 2,2a/3 fuel tank is 3 bolts at the front and a single bolt at the rear with rubber bush between tank bracket and outrigger.
The series 2a/3 tanks with underseat filler were for military lightweight Land Rovers.

The reasoning for single bolt at rear is to prevent tank damage when the chassis flexes.
I have the three bolts at the rear and a rubber strip between the two lips with the bolts just nipped.
