Hi there guys,

This is my first post on here after buying a Landy in january.
I'm currently having a slight issue with my clutch pedal.
The clutch works perfectly fine and there is no issue changing gears.

The problem I'm having is that the clutch pedal depresses fine but won't come back up itself - it needs to be lifted up manually.

I'm aware this is probably a rather amateur question but it is indeed my first vehicle so I'm still getting to grips with the mechanics.

any suggestions are welcome.

First of all :welcome2: to the asylum.
It is considered good form to introduce yourself in the Intro thread before asking for help.

However, it would appear that all you need is a return spring which hooks onto the bulkhead at one end and the clutch pedal at the other.

My Series had an old bed spring on for many years and I never did get round to replacing it!

I appreciate the help.

I apologise for not introducing myself first. I shall do that now.

The clutch pedal pivot has a bolt in the end remove it and put some oil into it.
A good modification is to replace the bolt with a grease nipple and grease it occasionally.

After replacing the old clutch pedal return spring with a shiny new one and oiling the linkage near the slave cylinder, the pedal no longer sticks at the bottom but now returns half way. Does this shed any light on what the issue might be?

I have yet to grease where the pedal bolts onto the bulkhead - this would be done from the bonnet side i presume? Would this require much work as I can't seem to get at it without removing some bits.

Pedal spindle is what you need to lubricate then check adjustment should be free play in cylinder push rod when pedal at highest point.
Pedal spindle in 1st pic should have bolt on engine side remove and squirt oil in.

Video of a mod I carried out to make adjustment easier also replace spindle bolt with grease nipple.

One other thing there is a bolt in front side of pedal box which adjusts the pedal max height check this is not your problem.

that's what I call a top quality reply :0)

I removed the pedal spindle bolt and oiled inside, I still have the same issue. I will check the height adjuster bolt tomorrow but I don't know if that will be the issue. Should the spindle just come out once I've taken the bolt out - I might examine it tomorrow.

If it helps the problem occurred after the vehicle had been sat for a while.

I really appreciate the help guys.

No spindle needs the push rod removing to come out.
If push rod is wrongly adjusted then pedal could be at end of cylinder travel.
