I have a series 2 1960. It has been part restored with a new wiring harness. The wings have only got one hole; I was told buy the previous owner who also bought it as an un-finished project that the side light and indicator are all in one.

Can somebody clear this up for me? Where can I get them from? Or did my land rover even have indicators?

Never heard of an all in one light on a landy
More likely no side lights in the wing or they were not drilled due to choice of location
Either above or beside each other
May find markings on the inside the wing to indicate this

I have seen a couple of pics of series 2 with one hole.

Use a tail and brake housing with a clear lens, tail becomes side light, brake light becomes indicator.
For a 1960 I believe it will be ok for MOT...but I believe lots of things:)

I was thinking that same but I would be left with clear indicators or orange side lights.

Correct, I believe that a 1960 vehicle can get away with white.
A quick google got this
Many years ago the indicators at the front were allowed to show a white light and a flashing red rear. I think that in 1960/1 the regs changed to having to show amber at the front and rear. The Ford Anglia 105E 1960 had white front indicators as part of the sided light (amber rear). Then the light was just a side light on later models and the amber set next to it as a seperate light. As long as the light illuminates as amber under the "correct intensity" then the cover can be shaded.

I would double check that 1 with your local mot guy
Last thing you want is him the refuse to test for something so simple

This is comon on s1 and s2, twin filament bulb 21x5 and a white lens. this is legal on the front only

I have a series 2 1959 and mine has seperate side light and indicator, unless mines been upgraded/newer wings put on at some point??

I am going to try the twin filament fitting with a clear lense. I should be ok with the MOT as he is also a land rover enthuiast.

Land-Rover did not fit indicators as standard until the mid 1960s - it was an optional fitment before then and not a legal requirement. As built, all IIs and IIAs would have only one hole in the wing front. Even when the indicators were fitted at the factory they had to drill the extra hole. In the UK the lights were horizontal (ie next to each other) unless for the MOD in which case they were one above the other - Australia used the same set up.
There are a few series IIs about with just a sidelight which can flash as the indicator, you could always ask on the series 2 club forum.

Just to let you all know the series 2 passed its MOT today. I fitted brake lights with clear lenses. I did have a discusion with the MOTer about rear fog lights! He said ya and I said na to fog lights. He finaly checked on line and I got a pass.
