so i having some thoughts on a slow project for the winter , i have seen defender 100 inch projects ( a 4x4 is born) i was wondering if anyone has tried this ? would be using a 300tdi chassis and a s2 109 body , can anyone think of any serious issues? i did wonder if the 300tdi would sit to high in the chassis and catch on the bulkhead and the gear stick come up through the seat box ? so would i need a short r380 gear box ? any ideas would be apricated ! thanks smithy !

well it wouldn't be a series if it was 100" it'd be a disco or defender as the reg belongs to the chassis used……..unless you're planning a ringer

long r380 wont effect it on a 100" base

wasnt planning to use the series log book like others as its just not worth the hassle if you get caught by the dvla man and as i wouldnt be altering the too much off the chassis i can keep the disco plate and just have a radically altered body , but would the bulk head not catch the tranny tunnel ?

you can make the mechanics fit
in my opinion make and break is the cutting down off the tub and making the body look right.
there are some good tips on "a land rover is born"

good luck and get some pics rolling

Would it be any harder to either make it to a king cab or station wagon ? Obv the sides of a station wagon would have to be trimmed down

If its 100" Couldn't you just extend standard 88" ones by riveting a bit of aluminium either side? It'd be the roof if you were going hard top that would be the most work just because it isn't flat

You'd just cut down a 110 roof ;)

110 sides would probably be the better option too, far easier to cut down than extend
