Morning.

I have a Series 111 with a very tired & leaky gearbox. Vehicle has a Dihatus diesel engine fitted. Can anyone advise me on the possibility of fitting the Dihatsu gear box to Series 111 or would I be better getting an exchange unit for my Series. I am anxious to get my Series back on the road ASAP.

I would really appreciate your taughts & help.

Many Thanks.

What's wrong with the gearbox? its working isn't it? as for being tired, never heard of that!! mine is 50 years old, and its working fine still, and they all leak to an extent, change the gaskets on it, their about £4 for a full set, and a few hours work, well worth keeping the box if you can, they are very strong and reliable, the only thing is they will after a time jump out of gear but that's an easy fix

I think its more than seals. Oil comes out throught the top of gearbox. I think there was an effort made some time ago to replace shins etc within this gear box and it may have been put back together a little wrong. Was thinking that a replacement / exchange unit might be the way to go if I can't fit Dihatsu 5 speed box

If you are going to get another the 2a is the one to get, its the strongest one of them all
