Series 1 keeps stalling

Hi we’ve a 86” S1 with a 2.25 S2 engine. My New Years resolution is to get it running properly this year and giving it the use it deserves. About to replace the regulator as the battery’s not charging up but the main problem is it’s tendency to stall when in use. I can drive it maybe 1/4 mile then it just cuts out. I leave it for a few minutes and drive only for it to do the same again. Has anyone got any ideas what o should be looking at. Recently changed to Accusparks ignition but it hasn’t resolved it. Sounds like it might be a fuel issue. Does it have a fuel filter near the carb and if so, is there some fuel in it when it cuts out. Does it cut out on tickover or whilst driving along? When you fitted the new ignition system, did you also replace the coil? A dodgy coil can show these symptoms.

As Col says coil is worth a check. A bad coil will often get rather hot after a while.

Try driving with the fuel cap off. Just to make sure it’s not a vacuum in the tank.
