serentine belt help

Just changed the alternator on my 4.6 vouge andthought id do the belt at the same time. Cant get the bugger on. How do you get some slack on the tensioner at the same time as pulling the belt onto the pulleys??

I found it best to get the belt around all pulleys & the tensioner first & leave off the alternator pulley, push tensioner away from you with a long spanner (if your stood to the left of battery) & ease belt over alternator pulley.

Growing a third arm is also a help

Don't go mad with the tensioner thay have a habit of snapping just enough

All done now, thanks for the tips.
In the end i cut the old belt passed it under the new belt just by the alternator pulley, knelt on the engine and heaved upwards while my son fed the belt around. bit of a faff but its done. Bad news is i now think the noise is coming from the tensioner itself

Always check condition of pulleys ect when belt is off its when they have there own free play if something's amiss your soon know
