Gents,
Just about to have an afternoon session of slutting up Brucey my 110. What will be better, using the supplied black rivets or self tappers. Does anyone put sealant on around the holes before securing?
Cheers.

Ones on my wings are held on with rivets, one on the bonnet is held on with stainless bolts. Never used self-tappers.

I put loads of inert mastic all over under the plates, some use neoprene gaskets.

Personally I'd use the rivets, joining aluminium to aluminium, might as well use aluminium. Unless the self tappers are aluminium. I've typed the word aluminium too many times now.

The chequer plate fitted to my bumper, and the headlamp guards, are attached with top hat threaded inserts (these were main dealer fitted for the original owner). Bumper chequer plate is attached to the inserts with anodised ally screws (regular threads, not self tappers), and I assume the chequer plate on the wing tops is the same (never taken them off). The inserts are made captive somehow. Might be worth an enquiry to a dealer, might be available over the counter? Advantage is no sharp bits to jag you when your hands are wandering under the body work, and screws can be removed when necessary without taking the wing under shields out.

Just riveted them on, looks ace. I used some fixing silicon around the rivets and around the vent boxes. Glad I did this because I discovered a nice puddle inside the offside vent, poked a drill but in and unblocked it. I'm assuming this is for the heaters to draw air in?

I used countersunk socket screws on mine.
