Self Levelling Suspension...

Hi everybody...
After giving the TD5 a good workout in France and Belgium last week it has now developed another fault (thanks clutchdust for pointing me in the right direction with the previous problem last week).
The self levelling suspension is not working. I had a warning light appear on the dash but this has since gone out.
I noticed that when I got out of the vehicle I never heard the the usual sound of the air compressor adjusting the vehicle height.
The off side of the vehicle is lower than the near side.
The switch to operate the SLS is still activating and the orange light is illuminating to indicate that it is in operation but nothing happens, it niether raises the vehicle or lowers it.
Having said that it doesn't sit literally on the floor which it did when I had to have the off side air spring replaced because of a leak in it.
Any help, ideas much appreciated as always.

I love the vehicle but this is the second fault with the Self levelling suspension in 9 months (TD5 2000 model). Would it be easier to simply have the SLS removed and to fit standard springs???

Had a problem with my self levlling suspension before.Mine turned out to be the compressor which costs about £230 and can be fitted yourself in about 15 mins. A good tip is to remove the rear left hand light cluster from your car and you will see a 'snorkel' in there for the air suspension,there is a small foam filter in the top , check that this is ok, not old and blocked up which is common, they normally get damp and dirty and starve the compressor of air.Otherwise the airline connectors on your compressor could be loose or the compressor(on the belly of the car,under passengers seat-black box) itself is on its way out.Either way it is a really simple system-just sounds complicated.Good luck

I,m not sure but didn,t L/R come out with a modification to the compressor filter behind the N/S rear light cluster as mentioned above. A bigger unit should be the answer to stop water getting thro' and save the compressor from seizing up.

I had a look in the filter and all seems OK.
I recon the compressor has packed in all together.
I have it booked in at the garage on Friday.

will cost a bomb mate, i was qouted £650 to have mine replaced, the mechanic told me how to do it and i bought a new one from frog island 4x4 in Oxford and done it myself in about half an hour, if you want to have a go your self i will tell you, even give you me phone no if you ned further advice[/quote]

It has been confirmed today that it is the compressor
However the costs involved are not quite as bad as I feared.
£235 for the pump and one hours labour at £25.

Brilliant, i paid about £250 for my compressor alone, at £25 fitting that is cheap, but only a quick job, i take it that is not a quote from landrover
