Hi Grant, if I understand the workings of the air suspension correctly, unless you press the dashboard button, the suspension should NOT go down when you turn off - it should stay in it's 'running' position.

Sounds like you have a leak somewhere, if you don't fix it quickly it'll burn out the compressor !!!!

will it be a garage jobby or something i can fix myself?

i have seen the range rovers lift up before driving away (but as ive always been in the car when about to pull away ive never seen mine raise up) however when i use to stop the car get out i wouls hear a "ppss" (air sound) and the back end of the car would lower slightly

To answer your question, there needs to be more diagnosis to ensure you would be trying to fix the right thing !!

If I were you I would start the car, watch it pump up, then press the dashboard button to raise the rear suspension.

Once it's fully up, get a bowl of soapy water and wash the air bags. What you are trying to establish is, are there any leaks in the bags. Once you've completed this, check the supplying pipework and the compressor for leaks.

Whilst looking for leaks, listen carefully for leaks and any other related noises and make a note of them. For example, if the compressor runs all the time, that sort of thing.

Having done this, report back your findings and perhaps then we can move forward to a plan of resolution.

Cheers
Dave

everything big lad says and dont forget the suspension wont raise with a door open!!!
so open a window , lean in and push button from outside with engine running. Mine needs to be held for about a second until it chimes and the light come on.

good luck

i will give it a try (sorry to sound dumb im new to landrovers)
which button is it on the dash to press? and when will i know what level to raise it to? (and also how will i lower it again after?)

so should the suspension automatically raise / lower when starting/stopping the car (providing door is shut)?

ive just gone out and tried it.. i opened window closed the door and started the car..
then leaned in and pressed the button.. i heard a clime and the light came on top right corner of dash display but i could not see the rear of the car move up or down (was hard as arm wasnt quite long enough) lol

any ideas??

it can take several seconds to move and it does move slowly. once its up it stays up until you press the button again (chime) the dash light will flash until it finished lowering (or raising)
If you look under the car at the rear suspension you will see the suspension bag. If its fully raised it is smooth and taut , in normal driving it folds over itself at the bottom. also you should hear the compressor kick in (black box under passenger side sill) as it tries to raise. hope this helps
