Hi all,

Firstly, I know that there are a few threads relating to this already, but I cant find one that answers my question.

My 110 has a boge self leveling unit fitted between the rear axle and the chassis. It appears to work OK, but I need to replace the A frame ball joint.

Without the SLU, I believe that the task isnt too difficult, but I need to know what differs when this unit is fitted. I have lifted up the lower gaitor, to reveal a point on the piston which is flattened to accept a 29mm spanner, but as I turn this, the whole piston moves but nothing loosesns. What am I missing?

Also, does anyone know how under pressure the damper is? Its not gonna shoot out and attack me once I remove the bottom joint is it?

Thanks
Tom

The strut is under a lot of pressure, it's filled with gas, as long as you don't try and take it physically apart it will be OK as you are just removing it.

Why is it a bodge? Is it not a stock install?

They were fitted as std on some 110's. mine has one keeps the ride height at the back nice and high pretty much irrespective of how much you throw in.
These are from the LR manual, looks fairly straightforward .
