"Jaguar Land Rover has demonstrated how self-driving cars can help cut traffic in Milton Keynes, with a public trial on open roads showing how autonomous vehicles can search for parking spots by themselves – and then automatically self-park within them.
The trial is part of a project JLR is running with self-driving consortium UK Autodrive."

Don't they know Land Rovers already have a mind of their own??!!

I hate the idea of self driving cars, for personal use they would be great for twunts that can't drive anyways but my greatest concern is that they will be quickly drafted into the fleet of courier, logistics and taxi services and spell the end of a lot of jobs.

Put simply, I hope the UK government realises what the hell they are doing with the trials and the affects that success will have on future revenue and more importantly on society, when people have no jobs they have no hope, that lack of hope combined with the lack of prosperity will breed contempt for the haves while the have nots are left to rot by the way side, dangerous game in my opinion but it is now a case of "if we don't let the big tech companies develop it here then they'll do it elsewhere" and there in lies the rub, we need the big tech companies investing in the country in R&D but more importantly, we need them dedicating resources in to the realms of manufacturing.

Sad to say that the treasury are literally committing suicide by allowing the government to bring this in on public roads.

It would be great to send the van for materials all by its self so I can get on with something, or let me have a drink and it drives me home, I talk on the phone when it drives or get some of the paperwork done so do not have to be working to midnight, I spend about 10 hours a week driving not for fun and i could use this time back in my life, Some people will be killed by this system but I would think long term a lot less people will be killed on the roads It will just be hard if you loses someone to a driver less car.
