had a bit of trouble last night which ended in my coming home on the back of a bright yellow tow truck - not good.
I went to pull out of a car park space and so put the series 3 in reverse absolutely fine then when i put it in first it got stuck, and there was absolutely no budgin it out of first, the transfer boxes are fine and i mangaed to put it in neutral on the transfer boxes so i could push back into a space. The clutch is fine too just seems to be stuck and no one knows why!? so here i am does anyone know why and how to fix it? Also to add to my great night i got a speeding ticket and 3 points on my license- honestly speeding in a land rover older than i am i couldnt believe it!

first thing you need to do is drain your g/box oil and see what metal bits come out with it.could be detent springs.

i was thinkin in might be something to do with the selector forks? apparently theres a nut on them that comes loose can anyone shed any light on this theory?

there's a hundred and one things it could by/might be,you are going to have to get stuck in and investigate.got a manual? you can't do much without one.

i took the middle seat out of the cab and had a look in the 2 covers located on top of the gearbox and everythign seemed to be ok, although not a lot of oil, so i topped up the oil but the gear lever is still stuck fast, next is to take the cover off where all the levers go down and have a poke about, has anyone got any ideas how to free the gear selector or what could be causing the gear lever to be stuck fast, like i say the clutch is fine as is the transfer box and the gears where all workin fine then just suddenly jammed!? any ideas would be appreciated.

just had a brain storm, i think it may be the ball at the end of the gear stick because now i can push the stick down and i dont think you should be able too, also the screw in at the bottom of the stick (bottom of teh stick on the left) visible without taking anythin apart is loose too... ill check that and see what happens.

JUST FIXED IT!!!! wasnt anything serious a spring by the gear selectors had come off and jammed itself between them so i couldnt change gear but now its out and all back to normal!!!
