Like many defender owners, am concerned about how many vehicles are being stolen. Whilst i have an immobiliser fitted, was looking at idea's to increase the security slightly. One thought was a heavy chain and padlock pulled tight between the gear stick and clutch pedal (wrapped around)? Wondered what ideas other defender owners use?
Cheers

Clutch Claw and DiskLok. Both very visible, and both are gonna need time and noisy equipment to remove. You'll never stop someone taking your Landy away on the back of a lorry - all you can do is make it as unappealling as possible to try to steal.

Agree.

Disklok,
Thatcham Imobiliser,
Park with wheels on full lock.
(this helps with the towing onto the lorry problem)

Nothing is guna stop them if they REALLY want it, or have a hiAb truck and just pick it up off of the floor!!

Park other vehicles in front.
Get a drive post.
Fit a ground anchor and chain the rear axle to it.
Barbed wire fence.
Armed security guard.
How far do you want to go? :)

LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90 110 SECURITY PEDAL LOCK RADIUS on eBay (end time 07-Mar-11 22:04:42 GMT)

I've got one of these, very well made and offers more protection than a clutch claw. :D It wouldn't be too difficult to make one at all though ;)

Thats what i thought a clutch claw was :p
Whoops.

Fuel Cut off switch

Land mine under the drivers seat?

Or you could try this, Just remember its there, and to remove it before you get in :D

The route BearDy89 has taken is the one I adopted - that and parking other cars in the way.

Sadly if they want to lift it onto a flatbed, not too much I can do about that!

Its a scary fact that if they want it they will just take it and the fancier you make it the
more it stands out , I speak from experience unfortunately having had 2 defender 90s pinched off my drive !! I know have an alarm immob with tilt sensors because the bastards jack it up and tow it on a dolly! , i have two security mole poles that lift up and
lock out of the ground 1 right in front of the 90 and another one in front of my metal gates which are then padlocked with a high security chain as well!! ,i have to do all this every morning and evening its a nightmare! NFU have been brilliant but a third one may just make me uninsurable!! I love my Defender but so does everyone else . good luck

Hello mate,

Echo everything that's been said, Disklok and Clutch Claw are decent bits of kit, Battery Isolator Switch fitted isnt too expensive, if you can get a security post fitted (if you park on a drive) then do it.
Got my hands on these alarmed padlocks, have put a couple inside where they cant be easily seen, motion sends them off, make a helluva racket!

Ultimately its all delaying tactics, hopefully long enough for me to dish out some 'reasonable' force, if you catch my drift.

Dont make it easy for them, but whatever you do Quaker get it done sharpish, coz there have been a few lifted in our neck of the woods last few weeks.

Boris, how do you rate that pedal lock? I live near the seller and have often thought of buying one. Are they clumbersome to store in the Landy when not in use. Are they easy to fit and remove in the dark?

They are a tad cumbersome but mine fits behind the front seats/cubby box. I'm very impressed with it, it's impossible to get tools round the back to damage the padlock, the only way would be to pick the very hefty lock. Do you want me to take some pictures of it?

Sam this is a clutch claw Clutch Claw - Car Security Product saw that thread of your new 90, it looks very nice! :D
