Hi all,

I've just removed the centre seat/frame and fitted a cubby box to my inspection panel. Not sure if mine is any different to others, have tried a search but didn't really find anything specific.

The panel literally just slides and sits over the hole. There isn't really anything securing it. When the frame was in, it would have been a real tricky thing to remove from underneath, but now it's just the cubby, it will push up and out no problem.

What have others done to secure this?

Mine has 6 screws around the edge that fix into captive screw thingies. As far as I know this is standard.

There are actually a couple more screws now as I screwed my cubby straight into the metal

Ditto. I would put a layer of draught excluder foam tape around the hole, then drill and use 6 self tappers to seal it in place.

Typical. The cubby box is bolted to the panel. But, just got it on the bench and it's pretty much exactly the same size, so can't actually get any self tappers in. Will put thinking cap on. Grrrr. Nothing ever easy

That panel drives me nuts but make sure you secure it properly. I missed the two screws at the front, hit some muddy water then had a tidal wave of **** hit the inside of my 90!

I fitted it but sticking some 3mm closed cell foam to the edges of the panel then x4 screws that came with it, 2 rear 2 center and some bolts for the front two. PAIN IN THE ASS to to but its all I had at the time. Now its solid.

Cheers guys.

Literally no lip around the edge so will have to use self-tappers from inside the box. Not ideal but easiest solution. Will use something to aid the seal and sound deaden.

Mine had a few rusting self tappers round the edge, screwed into those clip on captive nut thingies. I have replaced these with rivnut type captive nuts and now have 6mm stainless bolts instead of self tappers. Then the cubby box itself is bolted to the panel with more 6mm bolts into rivnuts in the panel itself. This is a bit better than it was before. people tend to use the cubby box as a hand hold when climbing in, so it needs to be fairly firmly fixed.
