Does anybody know where i can usefully fit a second battery on a 2000 TD5 Disco II GS. I previously had a Disco 1 200 TDI and it fitted nicely behind the 2nd headlight - paralleling the original - after i removed the old jack and crap that was there. However on the TD5 there is no room behind the other headlight.

Like you say, a bit pushed for space, 2 options really, it goes in the boot or you could make a battery tray and weld it to the side of the chassis.

If you remove the jack in the Disco 2, it is possible to replace the battery tray with an aftermarket defender twin battery tray that would take a couple of optimas (for example).

Alternatively, you can fit two odyssey batteries in place of the single standard battery. I've seen this done but can't comment on capacity etc - the odysseys that will fit have a lower cold cranking rate that the optimas but not sure what the standard battery rating is to compare with that.

I want to do the same thing i.e. fit a 2nd battery to my disco. At the moment, though, I have a dastek where the jack is normally located so would need to relocate/replace that or use the odyssey option. Don't want it in the boot either...
