Having spent most of the morning with my head buried in the footwell of my '94 Vogue SE and cursed Haines with every bit of colourful language I know for giving the job only '1 spanner', I am waiving the white flag and asking for your help please.

The base of the electric seats works in every direction, but the seat back will not recline or move at all. There is an audible 'CLICK' when the switch is pressed and the black drive cables move, so there is power going through them to the motor. On this basis, it is not a fuse or switch problem and so I got a replacement motor and swapped it out - it was an absolute pain to get to. I was gutted to find that the new motor made no difference. So I am now thinking that the actual gears that move the rear are stuck/damaged etc. The part numbers concerned are RTC5789 and RTC5790.

Has anyone else experienced this problem or managed a work around? I plan to go in for round 2 tomorrow.... mug.

Have you tried using a cordless drill to "manually" spin the cable that is connected to the motor? is the cable broken? or has it become unattached or possibly the thing it is connected to has become worn so the cable just spins but doesn't make the seat move. I'm afraid it sounds like you'll need to strip the seat mechanism and investigate.
