I took the seat box lids off tonight to paint them. They have some tape on them (i assume to isolate from the aluminium?).

What is this tape and where can i buy some replacement?

Not sure tape was put on originally, so it could be anything. It's pretty dry there, so not much of a problem with the steel lids sitting on the seat box. After I painted mine I put a strip of self adhesive foam around the edge, just to stop potential rattles and help keep noise down. I suppose it's keeping the steel and ali apart too.

It compresses down well used it on the seatbox , floor plates , gear box tunnel any where it needed sealing really from outside elements.

Thanks!
The stuff i took off was fairly thick (thicker than the 3mm stuff anyway) and it was fairly well squashed!

I'll order some up for when the paint starts coming off

Been thinking! I used the 3mm stuff on the seat box. I used thicker stuff, as per Ian Maycock, for the gear box tunnel. Sorry Ian

no probs mate didn't know YRM did that stuff brought the stuff from paddocks as got the part number out of the defender parts catalogue its about 5mm thick but squashes down to nothing when tightened down with a bolt.

Was away to order 5m of the 20mm tape from YRM (£4.95 I think), but was then getting stung with £12 postage as delivery companies didn't do geography at school and think I live in the highlands.
Regardless, if delivered to my office (also not in the highlands), its £6.50 postage!
I called YRM, but there is nothing they can do about the postage cost.

Is this just a standard foam? Can I get it from anywhere? I'm not paying £6.50 postage for something that cost less than a fiver!

Thanks. I just ordered some of that exact stuff, both 6mm and 3mm to see what looks right.

Thanks for the help!
