Sealing rad hose

Just fitted a new water pump and can't get the lower hose to get a good seal onto the pump.

Is there any type of sealant I can use around the inside of the hose to get a good seal ?

's what I use anyway, and it works well .. does well for almost any 'awkward to seal' gasker or mating faces. Just don't use too much, an even smear is plenty, and don't let any blobs get into the working area .. you'll see what I mean! They gum up oil or water ways very well!
