Hi there,

I was wondering if anybody knows of any pay and play sites in Scotland, preferably in the central area.

I go out to Kenny Telfers at Drumclog regularly and was wonder if there were any other sites within reasonable driving distance (1-2hrs from Hamilton area) that i could go to. I have been to a site in the perth area although you need to buy a years membership to use the site and i would want something a little more flexible.

Any help would be great!!
 
Not sure if its central Scotland really, but ive heard Ae Forest is a pretty cool place...
I go there with my Downhill bike, it looks as if there'll be some good stuff about.

It's just outside Dumfries, heard it's meant to be good, not sure who i contact about it, where you from dopey?
 
Border between angus and aberdeenshire, I have just bought a 110 CSW and am quite intrested in taking her off road but it seems there is no such thing as green laning up here.
 
I know, i've asked about and looked on the internet but there is no mention of green lanes in Scotland. I don't know if the laws are different because you have the right to go anywhere in Scotland where as it is tresspassing in England, not sure exactly how it works because if the land is owned by an estate you can be charged for damage to property, but they can't charge you with tresspassing!!

Which town is it your from?
 
I live near Edzell which is near Brechin. There must surely be some forest tracks as there are loads of of big forests up here and none of the tracks are gated but I am not sure where I would stand but the tracks look like the would be pretty good.

You would be driving distance to glentarkie, it's prob about an hour away but is a superb site!! I'm thinking about joining, it's about 1.5hrs drive for me, been there once and it was a blast!! If you ever fancy coming off roading down this way let me know, i would be more than happy to show you around drumclog, we normaly go out on a sat. You will need mud tyres though.
 
it is about 10 minutes from montrose. Where is glentarkie? I think I need to get to grips with my car before I start joining any sites. Thanks for the offer.
 
Glentarkie is junction 6 M90. have a look at the web site. First thing for your buggy is make sure it's reliable, parts are pretty cheap at britpart or the paddock, get mucked in and the costs are very low + you learn about the vehicle. Get yourself some AT tyres if you drive alot on the road, if not get some mud tyres, for some piece of mind buy a steering guard and some diff guards and you are ready to go!! You don't need a snorkel etc until you fancy some serious fun.
 
Do you think I should go and see a proper club like Tay 4X4 or just head along to a pay and play to get started. I use my car for work so I really don't want to knacker it to much!!!! Thanks for the info
 
Here's a pic of my mates defender today, check out the back wheel!! The other pic is my buggy, As i said you don't really need the snorkel or bumper just a set of mud tyres.:D

Some parts of the pay and play sites are pretty serious although there are other routes which are easier. If you want 'non damaging' off road fun, you should join a club and try some RTV events, there not events as such they are light hearted and it's a good place to meet like minded people, if you are going off road, NEVER go yourself because if you get stuck it can be a very long walk home, I know!!!

The RTV's are good although there is alot of hanging about watching others going round the course, some people like it others don't. I prefer to go where i want, when i want and thats why i prefer pay and play.

Hi, i think the site atInverbervie is no longer open, something to do with planning objection, so i've been told. I know that the web site is no longer available. Bit of a bummer, as i wanted to try that site, now that my disco V8 is up & running.
