Hi,
I've just joined and thought I'd say hello.
I have a 1959 Series II - got it about eight months ago and it's in pretty good condition having been rebuilt on a new galvanised chassis in the mid nineties. Generally reusing original parts. It's been great so far, subject to the usual maintenance of running a 51 year old car. I live in the Chilterns near Great Missenden and I use it as a hobby car but give it plenty of jobs to do.
I got caught out in the snow recently though, the car drove perfectly but the windscreen wiper (note the singular) was found seriously lacking - in fact I had to stop if it snowed because it just wouldn't clear the stuff.
The problem seems to be lack of pressure holding the wiper against the screen, bending the arm made little or no difference. It seems to me I needs a meatier wiper blade & spring but I'm guessing the motor will then struggle. I wonder what any of you seasoned Landy drivers have done to overcome this problem - any advice will be very gratefully received.
Thanks
Steve
