Look at my name DUH LOL
Hi Guys,

Been extremely busy. I saw a sweet looking Landy, 90% rust free. Hope I am not jinxing it, the owner is still making up his mind if to sell or not. The chassis looks solid, bulk head solid. Repairs were done and this guy took care of it. There are a few rust/ rot spots on the door frame, this is a 3 door by the way, exactly what I was looking for.

Some mods I would love to do. I know some persists will turn up their noses, but these are practical mods.

1. Alpine sound system.....to drown out the rattling panels :D
2. HID head light conversion, auxiliary HID spot lamps... Both to see dark people
who wear dark clothes on dark nights walking in the middle of the roads :mad2:
3. Viper alarm system with remote locking...have to add solenoids, starter disable, vibration and tilt sensors....for those who want to see me on the "Stolen Landy" thread :mad2:
4. Two meter VHF have radio and a CB radio... To chat with the other HAM radio morons and to hear when the hurricane hits
5. Back up camera with TFT display to see the same dark people who see my Landy backing up (known as reversing for you Brits :D ) but choose not to move.
6. Boost gauge with upgraded turbo.
7. Tachometer
8. Oil temperature gauge
9. Oil pressure gauge.
10. Intercooler

11. Forgot to add...the 1000 dB train horn for the arse holes who drive like people with a vacuum between their ears, hogging the passing lane, drive while reading the news paper, drifts into your lane, talk ****e on the cell phone while driving zig zag, the ones who are scared to see the needle go over 1.2 miles an hour, turn in front of you without a signal, go round the roundabout like its a fricking merry go round, so all the arse holes as you can see.

Ammmmmm some of these mods are brought about by my obsession with electronics....one of my trades.

So this will be done and for those who think it's ****e, you definitely suck donkeys balls :D

Barbados,
Not keen on all your mods but others great.

1. Alpine sound system Get it fitted as soon as you can to drown out the sound of hitting the people described in No2.
2. HID head light conversion, auxiliary HID spot lamps. No don't fit, the people you describe who do not want to be seen in the dark you will be fitting the No3 mod to alert you when they break in to your Defender. Run them over you will not require No3 mod (save some money).
3. Viper alarm system with remote locking. see No2 not now required.
4. Two meter VHF have radio and a CB radio. You know best on this one but you can always inform others of your kill count on No2.
5. Back up camera with TFT display. Fit it because you will need it for No6 No7 & No10
6. Boost gauge with upgraded turbo. 7. Tachometer & 10. Intercooler. Fit them this will give you the optimum revs to drop the clutch when using mod No5 you see creeping up behind you the people you describe in No2.

8. Oil temperature gauge. Fit it can be useful
9. Oil pressure gauge. Fit it can be useful.

I hope you get your Defender.:)

Hi!

in order:
1: Fix the rattles AND install the sound system. Got one in my 109 and it's good to have on long trips - not that living in Barbados you'll be doing a lot of that. :)
2. HID? Personally can't stand the damn things. Good set of aftermarket hella halogens are as good as it gets unless you want toput in all the proper auto-level bits.
3. Definitely.
4. Bugger the CB radio and get a proper 2/440 rig. (speaking as WA1YHY) :) )
5. 6-10 not bad ideas at all - can see the need for the TFT, though i might wait on the uprated turbo and larger intercooler till you see how it does for you - might be OK as is.

Fix the rust, clean it up and enjoy it as you go then upgrade.

Hi Tim,

Great reply, that's very funny :D

Well everything was planned for today to get the Landy to a shop where I can inspect it, however half way to the meeting point the owner called to cancel because he had to go into work.

We planned for this weekend, we will see how that goes. Was hoping to bring home the Landy as my birthday gift today. :(

Thanks for the humorous reply. :clap2:

Cheers.

Mr. Churchill, thanks for the input.

The audio system I have in my car and SUV in NA are both ignored, since we are always yaking on 2 metre VHF ham radio. The frequency is always busy. I am hoping to get another club up and running here on 2 metre ham with echolink, so if you like, you can key up to reach me here.
If I do install an HF mobile rig I will try to key to reach you.

I was hoping to get and refit some BMW elipsoids with HID because there are no street lights for the most part here. The roads through the cane fields are very dark so brighter lights do help.

The reverse camera is good to have here since they cast short pipes with cement as parking restraints which you can't see. They also make some oil sump bashers too

The Landy I am looking at has no real rust to talk about but I take care of what there. Will definitely do the maintenance first before upgrades. I used to own a performance shop so for me brakes and suspension repairs comes first.

Will take care of all the rust for sure, have to get a good mig welder soon.

Cheers.
