It's just a test bed for the technology I think. They're not going into volume production in any case. With a relatively simple vehicle such as the defender, there's less things that would need recalibrating to work with the new drivetrain.

I'm all for a new model. The sooner they bring out a new, eco-friendly, "feminised" Defender, the sooner my old Deffie gains sought-after, classic status with a price tag to match. :)

who ever wants one should just buy one now, its good there not going to make them anymore as they will go up in value!!!

I just cant believe that something
(give or take) that's been since 48 is due to be stopped. they have proved to be strong very tough and rugged simple to fix and replace bits and pieces and the sales over the years I wonder how many in total have sold all over the world? they are THE most well known truck and road TRACTOR on the planet. I know if was up to me I wouldn't change a thing on them production wise. they have presence and every other car or truck apart from wheel changes are an absolute nightmare to work on.

but I cant help think that maybe its points such as that have caused the death of DEFENDER. now days its money money and more bloody money!! they are wanting service and services are the cause of this.

THE DEFENDER I think will come back though as all the above will be missed and I think that will cause such a stir that they wont have any other choice than to reproduce DADDY 4X4!!

let It go for a while then strike that way all else will be given a chance and workers needing a work truck and fed up paying bodywork bills will help bring them back,

thank you and goodnight !!!!

Don't hold your breath

Would they make defenders out of the country in India or somewhere? There's definitely a market for them in the modern world.

I read somewhere that they're going to be building 110s out in India, with 300TDis in them. Could be wrong though, but it's still an exciting prospect, more 300TDis being made.

I cannot believe that as some one said earlier that it is because of the ladder chassis that they must stop manufacturing them. It is not a raceing car after all ,it is a work horse,a vehicle that you sould be plodding about in. You would not drive a tractor over a field at raceing speeds, a tractor do'es not have a crumple zone,so let us stop tractor from using our roads
Hope this makes them change there minds

The plan to try to save the tratter isn't working. So I was wondering if you lot would divert yer efforts to saving the Freelander 2 instead. Betterer chance of that happening I would think.

117 signatures, probably all by people who will never buy a brand new Defender, That's gonna make them sit up and take notice....
