Salisbury diff / axle in a disco??

Which one of the two senteces ended with a "?" is the question that you have? :D

1) Yes, it would fit, not a straight fit though. The salisbury axle has to have disc brakes, you need a shorter rear drive shaft and to replace the spring seats. I think no problems with the dampers.

1) Not really. The diff is a bit stronger, that's the only plus. The half shafts will continue to be the weak link. And you will lose some ground clearance under the diff, which is big minus.

Replacing the diff with a locker and using stronger halfshafts in the rover axle would be enough to have a strong and dependable rear axle if nothing too extreme involved and this is what you're after.
