Hello all, I havent been around for a while so I hope you are all keeping well and hopefully we havent lost anyone.
Question:
Car went for MOT yesterday and nearly failed on a lean to one side, they have given me an advisory on perished airbags (last changed 2008) however, they are not leaking at the moment nor is any other component. (I am going to replace all the bags) Everything works as it should and the car handles well, and there are no faults, the lean is to the drivers side front corner (RHD) and is in the 2-3 inch area measured from the wheel centre when running and the system is pumped up. On the p38 facebook forum there was a suggestion that this could be caused by a poor connection on the LH rear sensor which apparently is where the EAS data starts? I thought I would ask before recalibrating the thing just to find out this is not required.
Also does anyone have any links to the calibration blocks and procedure, I know Wammers did a comprehensive write up but I cant find it.
Any ideas out there?

Cheers

Nice to see you back ,have a look in the Technical Archive, unfortunately we lost Wammers a while back.

Also check the sensors haven't broken free and are tilted, that'll confuse the suspension ecu. I ha d a lean and the rear left sensor had broken one mount and had tilted upwards.. Leaning the bus down ;)

Is the statement correct about the nearside rear sensor being the base point for the EAS data then?

Well I have been clambering around the underside checking the suspension for the lean. The rear airbags still look like new to be fair, the fronts are a little perished but no leaks. I have unplugged and cleaned all of the height sensor connectors but I still have a 2” lean on the right side. It is the same mismatch on front an rear corners. If I drop to motorway height this mismatch goes to around 1” different from right to left side. I must say that before I cleaned the connectors the lean was 3” so there is a change. Is there a correlation between the height register numbers on the nanocom and inch movement if I modify the settings without set blocks?

Just knock yourself up a set of blocks sizes in Wammers guide in the Technical Archive brush handle is good for them.
